H100 Water Cooler + Antec 300 Case

Here is a real quick write up on how easy it is to convert your current case to fit an over sized water cooling setup. When I parted together this build I completely neglected the fact that the H100 would not fit into my mid-sized ATX Antec 300 case. The fans required to run the H100 are 120mm, and the top of my case has a 140mm fan. Since the length of the water tubes are relatively short the only option for me was to mount outside of the case. I started by cutting off the fan guard on top of the case with a pair of tin cutting shears (available anywhere tools are sold). Cutting a little more off the rear edge (looking from the nose of the case) so the water hoses would pass around the adapter plate. I also cut into the adapter plate where the hoses rubbed when mounted to the bottom back fan. I am very pleased with this setup, the push pull configuration not only cools the radiator, but also pulls air from inside the case. Attached all together you end up with a unit that looks stock and professionally installed.

Parts & Tools:

  • BGears Adapter Plate

  • 4x 6/32 1-1/2" Long Screws - For the base 120mm fan to adapter plate mount

  • 4x 6/32 1-1/4" Long Screws - For the underside forward fan (the H100 only comes with eight screws)

  • 2x 120mm Chromed Fan Guards

  • 4x Size 8 3/4" Long Screws - To mount the adapter plate to the case

  • 8x Size 8 Washers - Used two on each bolt, top and underside of case so bolts would not pull through plastic when tightened

  • 4x Size 8 Lock Washers - Used on the underside to keep everything snug

  • 4x Size 8 Bolts  - Used to hold the adapter bolts in place ;)

  • 18GA Tin Cutting Shears - For cutting the fan guard off, and trimming the adapter plate

  • Screw drivers - Phillips and Flat headed

  • Optional: 2x 120mm fans
